Lord of the Rings — The Green Dragon Inn Environment Statue (Weta Workshop, Limited Edition of 600)

Bringing a corner of Hobbiton to life took patience, skill, and an enormous amount of hands-on craft. Weta Workshop's Green Dragon Inn statue was built at true miniature scale, with individual blades of grass and climbing ivy placed by hand, and the thatched roof carved strand by strand to capture the texture of real straw. The architecture was digitally sculpted by Charlotte Key, with the physical environment brought to life by sculptors Shanti Costar and Shaun Bolton, before being carefully moulded and cast to preserve every curve of the original sculpt.

In the painting stage, layers of tone and colour were built up to bring warmth to both stone and timber, with golden thatch and the deep greens of Bywater's gardens capturing the Shire's rustic charm in fine detail. Built-in LED lighting completes the effect, casting a flickering firelight glow through the windows and hanging lanterns.
